Corn Publishing FAQ
Frequently asked questions are listed questions and answers.
What types of books do you publish?
We publish all types of books but we focus on publishing books for authors that live in the Midwest US. We publish non-fiction and fiction hard back and paper backs. We publish color or black and white.
How long does it take to get a book published?
If your manuscript is perfect and ready to go, publishing can take as little as a month to complete. We have never seen a manuscript arrive ready to print. Most projects take three to six months time to edit and review the manuscript and setup all the publishing and marketing strategies.
How much does it cost to publish a book?
Publishing costs vary depending on the book and the author. Generally it is mostly dependent on the editing. Editing runs $35 per hour and most manuscripts need at least forty hours of editing. The rates for a hardback/paperback/eBook package can be as cheap as $99.
How many books do you guys publish?
We are a micro publisher. If you want a huge publishing company there are plenty of those out there. We publish under 50 books per year. Because we are selective our market penetration is deeper into libraries and stores than some of the mega publishing mills out there.
How many times does a book get edited?
Usually four times. The first edit is the basic edit where we set all the paragraphs and sentence flows. The second edit is one looking for structure errors such as an improper sentence. The third edit looks for typos and word spelling and usage errors. The last edit is one final read to make sure it is perfect.
After the last stage the Manuscript is resized and a proof print is sent back out to the customer to sign off on.
How do I know if my book needs edited?
If you are not a professional author with a few books already published that did not need any editing then you will need editing. The degree of editing that will be needed is fairly easy to establish.
